PVOA Board of Director Meeting

Attendance:  Steve Badin, Jack Bonkoski, Ray Brinkman, Mike Egan,  Ed Gray,  Amy Richards and Randy Sprouse
 
Meeting called to order at 7:05pm by Ed Gray. 

Mike Egan said that all High School checks have been mailed and others present confirmed that they have been received.  This check does not include the Regional Final game for Steve, Billy and Ed but that will be paid out as soon as funds have been received.    The  evaluations went well and a check has been sent to Billy for his generous services this season.

There may not be enough teams for the Sunday Select league this summer.   

The remaining 40% of the girls fast pitch money has not been received by PVOA due to the excess rain outs to date.  Mike hopes to get this money within the next few weeks.   Time limits in girls fast pitch games have been an issue in the western part of the county.  There needs to be CLEAR instructions regarding this issue so there is no discussion at each game.

There was discussion regarding who might be a good candidate for the new softball commissioner since Mike says he will be leaving after this season.   We would like to see someone who is available during the day and evening to conduct evaluations, training and phone calls regarding softball.  A busy person who travels might not be the best candidate.

There was also a good deal of discussion regarding the cancellation line the County offers for the players.  The consensus is that it is not umpire friendly and suggestions were discussed.  The general opinion is that the County will not change their standard operating procedures and we will have to come up with alternative ways to help the umpires other than Mike taking it upon himself to call each of them.   Mike has called teams to let them know when games are canceled because the rain line has not been updated.

Ed Gray stated that  the General Membership meeting will be on November 14, 2009.
