SENIOR OFFICIALS - We have been chosen to
referee the Fall HS Boys Varsity Basketball League @ Freedom HS
primarily being held this fall (7 week season). The season began Sept 23rd. Other dates are
Oct. 2, 5, 6, 16, 21, and 30. We will run three man, $25 per ref per
game, 2 game sets, utilizing the normal summer/fall league 20' running
clock format. The participants are 7 Dulles District teams along with
the NOVA Cavs, an excellent AAU team. THIS IS PRIMARILY FOR HIGH SCHOOL
OFFICIALS WITH 3 MAN EXPERIENCE. Look over you calendar and let Commissioner Jim Gammie know
what dates you can work.
JUNIOR OFFICIALS (still in high school) - We
are looking forward to another exciting season, and couldn't do it
without you!
We have planned many enhancements this season to make and help you get better before and during the season. This includes improved training, partnering with refs 'older' than you, assigning you a mentor and a friendly gentle assessment program. You'll find out more at the clinics. Meanwhile, expectations from PVOA and the leagues (who pay us hefty fees to ref games) are going to be higher than in season's past. Be certain that when you come out this year that you are willing to work hard, have fun, and improve as you go along. We need you to be more aggressive, outgoing, and professional in your efforts. You must be willing to meet this minimum requirement during the upcoming season.
RECRUITING - We are always looking to add new referees, providing that they are willing to meet the criteria outlined above. So should you know of someone, bring them to one of the clinics, or better yet, have them email Jim Gammie in advance so they can pre-register.
If for some reason you will not be with us during the '08/'09
season, then kindly let Jim Gammie know so we can update our database.
If you are interested in becoming a basketball official for PVOA, please contact Basketball Commissioner, Jim Gammie. (home phone: 703-430-2919; cell phone: 703-994-1964)
